Greater Than AIDS has launched the #SpeakOutHIV campaign to give a voice to HIV patients on social media, at a time when infection rates are on the rise in the United States, especially among young gay men.
The core of the campaign is a series of 25 video testimonials by gay men about their experiences with HIV and the gay community. These will be fully published by September 27th, National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, but you can already see many of the videos on the campaign’s Youtube. Many of the men in the videos are from urban areas with high HIV rates, and many of them are men of color. Their videos were filmed on cellphones and other personal devices to better emphasize the nuance of their individual experience.
Additionally, the campaign will have a presence on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter in order to maximize the reach of this important conversation. For more information about the campaign, visit the Speak Out website.
