Through The Gender Lens: One Century of Cinema History

Data journalist Alison Corona analyzed “Bechdel Test” information for almost 6,000 movies released between 1892 and 2015—and found some astonishing but sadly unsurprising results. She writes, “For one in every five movies of 2015, female characters never speak to each other…and this doesn’t account for the 8% of movies that don’t even have two female characters who could have engaged in a conversation.”
