TV is Giving Documentaries their Due

At a time when reality TV is king, writes Matthew Gilbert in The Boston Globe, it would seem that there isn’t a large demand for “more serious and contemplative approaches to subject matter.” However, documentaries are making a comeback on television. He quotes Mark Samuels, executive producer of American Experience : “Documentaries can give you a little touch of something that feels very true. I think we’re all looking for that right now.”
