Progressive funders, you may be part of the problem

Previous research has found that conservative funders are more likely to give general operating support to build infrastructure and institutions over longer periods of time, while progressive funders are more likely to take a fragmented approach, giving smaller, project-specific grants to many different organizations. This article argues that progressive funders are also more likely to require complicated applications and evaluations—and this may have the effect of stalling progress on the issues they are trying to fund.
