A new study conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago in partnership with Media Impact Funders and The Lenfest Institute for Journalism that examines the role of philanthropy in American journalism found strong growth in support for nonprofit news over the past five years, an increase in funding to for-profit newsrooms, and a growing focus on communities of color.

$250 Individuals based at foundations and qualifying organizations who are not in a position to provide Media Impact Funders membership.
$500 Foundations, private donors and organizations with an annual grants budget under $1,000,000
$1,000 Foundations, private donors and organizations with an annual grants budget between $1,000,000 and $4,999,999
$2,500 Foundations, private donors and organizations with an annual grants budget between $5,000,000 and $9,999,999
$5,000 Foundations, private donors and organizations with an annual grants budget between $10,000,000 and $19,999,999
$7,500 Foundations, private donors and organizations with an annual grants budget between $20,000,000 and $49,999,999
$10,000 Foundations, private donors and organizations with an annual grants budget of $50,000,000 or more
$10,000+ Media Impact Funders welcomes Supporting Memberships beyond $10,000 from funders who have it within their capacity.
