Our second network call for community foundations will focus on helping you connect with your peers, learn about their media funding strategies and share details about the important work you’re supporting in your own region.
Background:
Through years of data research and other field-building activities, we know that community foundations are playing an increasingly important role in the media and journalism funding ecosystem. As such, Media Impact Funders (MIF) is testing support in the field for creating a network of community foundations that can work more effectively than individual foundations on their own to support media in the public interest.
Through a series of sharply focused programs curated by MIF, we will explore issues and opportunities connected to public media in communities. We also anticipate that network sessions will provide a valuable forum for informal discussions among members about their journalism and public media support work. Our main objective is to build a cohort of community foundation colleagues into a peer networking group, thereby creating a space for these funders to engage with and learn from one another.
