Virtual Meeting
This is a funder-only gathering.
Join us for an enlightening session hosted in collaboration with the Journalism Funders Forum, a peer-learning community of Philea.
We are excited to welcome Katie Donnelly, a research consultant with Dot Connector Studio, who will present the findings from the Media Impact Funders’ latest research. This comprehensive study offers a detailed snapshot of the global journalism funding landscape, drawn from extensive surveys and in-depth interviews with media funders and journalists. Dot Connector Studio’s additional analysis of the top 25 journalism funders reveals key trends and shifts in global funding priorities.
One compelling discovery from the report highlights the diverse motivations behind foundation support for journalism. While enhancing trustworthy news and combating misinformation are primary drivers, there is less focus on the safety and security of journalists. In this session, we will hear from several funders about their motivations and discuss the urgent need for our sector to prioritize the safety and protection of journalists.
Don’t miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights and contribute to a critical conversation about the future of global journalism funding.
