Last week, Congress passed H.R. 4, the Rescissions Act of 2025, which cuts $1.1 billion from public media funding, delivering a devastating blow to the institutions, rural stations in particular, that millions of Americans depend on for trusted information, education, and connection. In response, MIF is convening an emergency meeting for media funders. This is a space to share what we know, raise urgent questions, identify who is mobilizing, and explore collective strategies to safeguard journalism and public media at this critical moment.
