The Civic Information Index is a complex tool that connects the dots between a variety of civic health factors to demonstrate the critical impact news media has in relation to other elements of civic health. The interactive map provides visualizations of a range of civic health factors across the Four Pillars of Civic Health: News and Information, Civic Participation Ecosystem, Equity and Justice, and Health and Opportunity. The resulting scores for individual counties help identify areas where civic health outcomes.

The creators of the Index have already created an extensive body of research, including case studies of demographic groups and have recommendations for key stakeholders, including funders based on the data analysis.
