A new study conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago in partnership with Media Impact Funders and The Lenfest Institute for Journalism that examines the role of philanthropy in American journalism found strong growth in support for nonprofit news over the past five years, an increase in funding to for-profit newsrooms, and a growing focus on communities of color.

Marie Porter

Marie has nearly two decades of nonprofit experience. Prior to joining Media Impact Funders, Marie served as Northern Mid-Atlantic Community Development Coordinator for the Adult Congenital Heart Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by CHD. She has worked in the nonprofit sector for most of her career in various capacities at organizations such as Food Bank of South Jersey and Delaware, Feast of Justice and First State Community Action Agency. Marie Porter holds a B.S. in Agri-Business, an MBA from Wilmington University and a MPA with a non-profit administration concentration from Keller Graduate School of Management. Marie also serves as the Foundation Administrator for the Legacy of Love Foundation Inc., a Philadelphia non-profit organization that funds academic scholarships and community grants.
