Local News Research Hub
This collaborative project from Syracuse University’s Local NexT Lab and Rebuild Local News is a curated, searchable database of research and data-based insights on the changing media landscape, primarily local news. Created with the support of AI to translate academic and technical research for laypeople, users of the Hub can ask specific questions, such as “What is the economic impact of local news?” and receive a selection of applicable research vetted by the the research team behind the project. Inspired by the 2022 literature review “How We Know Journalism Is Good for Democracy” (linked below) conducted by the Democracy Fund this project is intended to grow over time, and studies not included in the database can be submitted for inclusion.
