Narrative Infrastructure for Narrative Immersion
This grantmaking framework from Pop Culture Collab is informed by over a decade of narrative change funding and provides clear steps for funders looking to go deeper into narrative work. This framework proposes that changing narratives requires people to be immersed in consistent stories over time, delivered through many coordinated pieces of content from different voices. To make that kind of narrative immersion possible, the field needs strong, well-funded infrastructure that supports collaboration, distribution and sustained storytelling.
Narrative infrastructure is broken down into three stages: 1) Laying the Ground 2) Network Organizing and 3) Narrative Immersion. The framework provides two options for funders to engage with at each stage and examples from the field. The framework also includes a 6-step Design Your Grantmaking Exercise for funders to start to build out what this work might look like.
