This is an invitation-only meeting.
Through years of data research and other field-building activities, we know that community foundations are playing an increasingly important role in the media and journalism funding ecosystem. (The scale of increased giving is substantial: community foundation support for journalism has increased 1000% since 2009.) As such, Media Impact Funders (MIF) is testing support in the field for creating a network of community foundations that can work more effectively than individual foundations on their own to support media in the public interest.
Through a series of sharply focused programs curated by MIF, we will explore issues and opportunities connected to public media in communities. We also anticipate that network sessions will provide a valuable forum for informal discussions among members about their journalism and public media support work. Our main objective is to build a cohort of community foundation colleagues into a peer networking group, thereby creating a space for these funders to engage with and learn from one another.
As such, join us for our first network meeting where you’ll get to share a bit about your foundation’s public interest media strategy and hear from your peers about theirs.
