How is philanthropy catalyzing the reinvention of local journalism? That is our guiding question as we gather our journalism funders network for a day of programming and conversation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, May 24 at the National Constitution Center.

We’ll kick off with brief catalyst talks by Kyra Kyles of the Field Foundation, Ariel Zirulnick of the Membership Puzzle Project and Cassie Haynes of the journalism collaborative Resolve Philadelphia.

Mid-day, the Knight Foundation’s Jennifer Preston and Wyncote Foundation’s Feather Houstoun will have an open conversation about catalyzing foundation funding for journalism.

Most of the day will be devoted to conversations among members of the network. We’ll use an Open Space process to allow participants to set the agenda for two hourlong sessions about the topics they feel are most important to funders’ roles in building more resilient, representative and inclusive local news.

This session follows our May 23 Media Impact Forum, and is targeted to funders who support journalism or are interested in journalism grantmaking.
